Guest: Carlos Vega-Matos from the County of LA Public Health Department, discussed the HIV/AIDS epidemic in LA County and the upcoming 2008 “HIV Counseling and Testing Week” In LA County, June 23rd – June 28th  and  National HIV Testing Day that will be observed on June 27th. HIV/AIDS is largely an epidemic among gay and bisexual men, particularly among African-American and Latino gay and bisexual men, including those who do not identify as gay or bisexual.  Women however are increasingly at risk often through the sexual behavior of their male partners. Free HIV testing and treatment is available to Los Angeles County residents.

Guest: Lorenzo and Peggy Abundiz, John McKnight, discussed their “Code3 for A Cure” mission and event designed to promote awareness about the need to find a cure for all types of cancer, especially the cancers that are relating to firefighting exposures. A Fire Truck journey from California to New York and back. The goal is to honor the sacrifices of those fallen firefighters who paved the way for better procedures and safety equipment used today.
