Stew, and Recipes Of The Stars, discussed Holiday cooking and basic USDA safety

Recommendations for food handling and preparation. He also talked about some of

his favorite celebrity recipes that are contained in his books.  Mr. Pearlstein

explained how his Advertising Agency was the first to hire a home economist and

formed Western Research Kitchen here they studied nutrition and tested recipes.

Guest: Murray Wood, Executive Director of Variety, The Children’s Charity Of Southern California, discussed their ongoing mission to support the needs and interest of children and affirmed their unwavering commitment to providing life saving support for disabled, abused, physically challenged and underprivileged children. The Southern California chapter of the charity was formed in 1941 and has raised over 60 million to help children in Southern California.

Guests: Janeen Holmes, President/CEO of My Stuff Bags Foundation, came in to discuss their ongoing outreach efforts to supply children who have been rescued from terrible abuse situations, and displaced from their homes and thus their belongings. They provide a duffle bag with essentials to replace the belongings they’ve lost.  She also solicited our listeners for donations of children’s toys, blankets, pajamas & teddy bears as well as volunteer time to stuff the bags

Guest: Brian Pickering, and Kim Rathman from The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, discussed their programs and outreach efforts, which began in 1908 and is supported by 1,800 year-round volunteers (called “Vincentians”) who make it their mission to help improve the lives of the disadvantaged and homeless. They also talked about the thrift store in Lincoln Heights and solicited usable donations that they will pick up free of charge. The also reminded our listeners about St. Vincent de Paul’s Christmas needs and their 100th Anniversary Gala upcoming in February’08.
