Guest: Dr. Noel Bairey-Merz,, Director of the Women’s Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, discussed Heart Disease in women.  The doctor urged women and for those who love them to learn to recognize gender differences in heart attack symptoms since women often experience different heart attack symptoms than men and  knowing what to do and acting quickly can save a life

Guest: Betty Rodriguez, Executive Director LA County Affiliate, and Debbie Weinstein, cancer survivor and chair of the organizations new Education Initiative, “I Am the Cure”, discussed their mission and how they determine who receives the money that is raised from each of their fundraising events. They also filled us in on plans for the upcoming Susan G. Koman “Race For The Cure” taking place at the Pasadena Rose Bowl on Saturday, March 15th. The race celebrates breast cancer survivors.

Guest: Yvette Barlow, Member of the Board of Directors of “Women at Risk”, discussed the organizations mission to provide emotional and educational services to women living with HIV/AIDS and their families, and to provide education outreach to the diverse communities of Southern California. She stressed their goal of keeping us focused on the needs of HIV-positive women and their families.
