Segment - III 11:40pm—11:50pm
Guest: Guy Mehula, LAUSD, discussed the LAUSD building program and his role as LAUSD Chief facilities executive, overseeing the $20.3 billion new construction and modernization program. A program that was prompted by the desire to relieve overcrowding through building new schools, and to repair and update facilities that were often more than 50 years old. Aside from building new schools, LAUSD is modernizing existing schools that are in poor shape due to being overcrowded. In addition, not enough maintenance work was done on the schools in the past 50 years or more. We want to give students the best facilities possible, whether they are old or new.
